Dr. Billo conducts research in all facets of Automatic Identification including bar codes, two-dimensional symbologies, RFID and other wireless technologies including WiFi and Zigbee He developed and carried out test protocol that led to the adoption of two American National Standards including the ANSI MH10.8 Standard for Two-Dimensional Symbologies and Unit Transports and the ANSI NCITS T6 Standard for Passive RFID. Dr. Billo is the inventor of the biometric technology currently being deployed by the U. S. Visits Program at all U.S. Ports of Entry. Previously, Dr. Billo served as Department Head of the Oregon State University Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering Department. He has published over 60 papers, and been awarded over $25 million in funded research grants and gifts. Dr. Billo has conducted research for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, the National Science Foundation, The Canadian Department of National Defense, and such corporations as Intel, Symbol Technologies, Fed Ex, UPS, Motorola and Hewlett Packard. He currently serves on the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Radio Frequency Identification and Applications. Previously, Dr. Billo worked as Technical Group Leader for Pacific Northwest National Laboratories. He is an Intel Faculty Fellow, been honored as Outstanding Engineering Professor, and has received the Whiteford Faculty Professorship.
