Article I
Section 1.1 NomenclatureThe organization shall be known as the African American Faculty and Staff Association (AAFSA).
Section 1.2 Organizational Purpose
AAFSA seeks to establish a mechanism through which African Americans are fully recognized as contributing members of the University of Texas at Arlington and the community at large. The organization will accomplish this objective by advocacy and support for issues deemed important by AAFSA.
Section 1.3 Membership
Membership shall be open to all faculty and staff interested in professional development of staff /faculty and retention of students at UTA. Annual dues shall be twenty dollars.
Section 1.4 Goals
Through its presence and visibility, the African American Faculty and Staff Association (AAFSA) shall:
a. To provide advice and support to African American faculty, staff and constituents.
b. To sponsor mentoring opportunities for membership, etc.
c. To assist and advise on issues related to the advancement of African American faculty, staff and students.
d. To provide a forum for research and professional development.
e. To develop partnerships with other University organizations.
