Dr. Sanjiv Sabherwal

Sanjiv Sabherwal received a Ph.D. in Finance from Georgia Institute of Technology, an MBA from the University of Miami, and a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He joined the Department of Finance and Real Estate at the College of Business at UT Arlington in 2004. He earlier served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Rhode Island and also taught finance at Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to his Ph.D., he worked at an international management consulting firm, and contributed to projects sponsored by international funding institutions, such as the World Bank and the Danish International Development Agency.
Dr. Sabherwal’s teaching interests include international finance, financial modeling, investments, and financial management. At UT Arlington, he received the Billy W. Turner Memorial Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2006-07 and the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2007-08, and was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2012.
Dr. Sabherwal’s research focuses on issues in international finance and corporate finance. He publishes research articles in journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Decision Sciences. He has also co-authored a textbook on international finance. His research activities have led to several recognitions, including research awards at UT Arlington and selection as a finalist for best article awards at several outlets.
