Rebecca E. Deen is an associate professor of political science at the University of Texas at Arlington and, effective September 2008, Chair of the Department of Political Science. Her publication and research fields include the U.S. presidency, women in the political process and pedagogies in political science. She has published articles in Congress & The Presidency, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Judicature, PS: Political Science & Politics, Spectrum: The Journal of State Government, Women & Politics, State and Local Government Review. The George Bush Presidential Library Foundation and the Gerald R. Ford Foundation have supported her work with travel grants. She serves as a reviewer for many scholarly journals and publishers.
Professor Deen is the recipient of numerous teaching awards, among them the Arlington Star-Telegram Service Learning Faculty Award, the Chancellor's Council Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Golladay Award for Outstanding Teaching in the College of Liberal Arts. She often provides press commentary, and has been quoted in local and national newspapers.
