Maverick Counselor Showcase scheduled for Nov. 30

UT Arlington’s annual Maverick Counselor Showcase, a behind-the-scenes look at the University designed for high school counselors, community college advisors, and teachers, will be held on campus Nov. 30.

This event is an opportunity to visit campus and learn about the opportunities available to students.

The Office of Undergraduate Recruitment hosts this event annually so high school and community college partners will have the most up-to-date information about the University when advising their students.

Attendees visit labs, community features, and research centers, hear from academic and administrative representatives, and network with UT Arlington staff.

Residence halls, academic colleges, the Studio Art Annex, the Smart Hospital, College Park Center, the Maverick Activities Center, and the Dan Dipert University Welcome Center are some of the campus facilities that will be showcased.

Maverick Counselor Showcase is free to attend and includes a catered lunch.

Invitations will be mailed in late October.

College Park District opens

The University of Texas at Arlington kicked off the fall 2012 semester with an exciting new addition to the campus landscape, the much anticipated College Park District!

College Park District is a 20-acre, $160 million, mixed-use development that serves both UTA students and the greater Arlington community. The main attraction of College Park District is the spectacular College Park Center. This facility serves as the home court for UTA’s basketball and volleyball teams, as well as a venue for concerts, guest speakers, commencement ceremonies, and various community events.

In addition to College Park Center, the District houses UT Arlington’s Dan Dipert University Welcome Center, the headquarters for campus tours and a great place for visitors to get to know the university. Hundreds of lucky UTA students call College Park District home by residing in one of two new housing facilities, Vandergriff Hall and The Lofts.

Pie Five Pizza Co. is the first of many restaurants to open in College Park District. Frozen yogurt, tacos, Mediterranean food, a sports bar and more are soon to follow. Restaurant patrons never have to worry about parking, given the 1,800 spaces available in three different garages.

Please visit http://www.uta.edu/collegepark/ to learn more about The College Park District, or visit campus to see for yourself!

The district's official grand opening celebration will be held Nov. 19, 2012.
