Maverick Showcase registration continues for counselors
Registration continues for UT Arlington's 6th annual Maverick Showcase on Dec. 6, which will highlight the University's academic programs and campus life for high school teachers, counselors and college advisors.
The Office of University Recruitment hosts this event so high school and community college partners will have the most up-to-date information about the University when advising their students.
Interested teachers, counselors, and advisors can register at www.uta.edu/admissions/events/maverick-showcase.
The day-long program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and allows attendees to hear from academic representatives, network with UT Arlington staff, and choose from a variety of facility tours or presentations.
Residence halls, academic colleges, the Studio Art Annex, the Smart Hospital™, College Park Center, the Maverick Activities Center, and the Dan Dipert University Welcome Center are some of the campus facilities that guests may choose to visit.
Maverick Counselor Showcase is free to attend and includes a catered lunch.
The registration deadline for out-of-town guests is Nov. 20.
Local guests may register through Dec. 2.
Maverick Workshops help prospective students navigate college search process
UT Arlington's Prospective Student Center in Davis Hall will be offering a series of workshops to help prospective students in a small-group setting with a variety of topics related to applying for admission, finding scholarships, and more.
Maverick Workshops are led by the MavElite student recruiters and will include both presentation time and hands-on workshop time.
Topics that will be covered during the fall semester include an admissions application workshop that focuses on the Apply Texas application, a workshop on finding UT Arlington scholarships and private scholarships, and a pre-financial aid workshop that will help students prepare to complete the FAFSA. Additional topics will be added in the spring semester.

Workshops are offered most Thursdays and Fridays, with the most up-to-date schedule posted on the workshop website.
Each session lasts 60 minutes.
Group visits available for school and community groups
UT Arlington offers flexible group visit programs for schools and organizations that highlight the university and help promote a college-going culture.
Group campus tours are scheduled individually and are tailored to each group's needs. The visits includes a 75-minute walking tour led by a MavElite tour guide and may be paired with an optional admission information session.
Group tours are available Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Saturdays at 10 a.m.
In addition to campus tours and information sessions, groups may supplement their visit with additional activities such as lunch, a Planetarium Show, a Science Ambassador Show, and off-campus activities.

Free UTA Basketball tickets available for school groups
Free tickets to UT Arlington basketball games are available to school districts, AVID groups, and other community groups courtesy of the Office of University Recruitment.
Groups wishing to attend a men's or women's basketball game can request 10-100 tickets online at www.uta.edu/admissions/events/basketball-games.
Games are played in UT Arlington's College Park Center. The multi-use arena anchors the College Park District which includes restaurants, apartments, a residence hall, and the Dan Dipert University Welcome Center.
The men's team is off to a 2-1 start this year. Home games this season will include non-conference opponents Cleveland State, Weber State, and Cal State Bakersfield. Conference rivals like Texas State, Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, and Louisiana Monroe will also face off against the Mavericks in the College Park Center.
The women's team will play home games against non-conference opponents like Virginia Commonwealth University, Abilene Christian, and North Texas. Their conference schedule matches the men's team.
This season marks UT Arlington's first season in the Sunbelt Conference. The Mavericks were founding members of the Southland Conference, but played one year in the Western Athletic Conference last year.

11/25 - Deck the Mall
Students, faculty, staff and guests are invited to celebrate the winter season with this festive event that will illuminate your holiday spirit. To kick off the event we will be unveiling lights placed in various locations through the Library Mall. To keep the holiday spirit going, EXCEL will give participants free holiday treats and will have festive attractions to further enjoy the event. The lights will continue to illuminate the Library Mall until the end of the year. This event is sponsored by the University Events Department and EXCEL Campus Activities, a program of the Division of Student Affairs.
