The Early Admission Program (EAP) at the University of Texas at Arlington is available to applicants who wish to begin their college education following their sophomore or junior year of high school. Applicants who satisfy admission requirements may enroll in university classes while being concurrently enrolled in high school. University credit is awarded for courses that are completed with grades of A, B, C, or D. The Office of the Registrar keeps official transcripts which indicate the department, course number, course title, grade and semester hours earned. Students may request an official copy of their University transcript after their first semester or summer session. International students currently enrolled in U.S. high schools are eligible for admission as EAP students.
Admission to the Early Admission Program requires students to demonstrate college readiness. One way is by demonstrating they are exempt under the provisions of the Texas Success Initiative (TSI):
If a student meets the exemptions for the Reading, Writing, and Math requirements, they will be eligible for the EAP program. If they can not meet any of the requirements they can also become eligible for the EAP program by achieving the minimum passing standards under the provisions of the Texas Success Initiative (TSI). This provision requires the student to take one of four approved testing instruments:
The student only needs to take the portion of the test for which they have not met the exemption requirement stated above. If you take one of these exams, please request to have the scores sent to the UT Arlington Office of Admissions, Records & Registration. Information to take the Accuplacer or the THEA on the UT-Arlington campus is available at the UT Arlington Testing Services website. The following minimum scores must be achieved to meet the TSI requirement in the areas where an exemption cannot be met:
Alternatively, an eleventh grade student is eligible to enroll in dual credit courses under the following conditions:
Applicants should submit the following:
A student who is admitted under the Early Admission Program:
An Undeclared major designation is intended to enhance advising. Students may select courses that will apply to their desired major. Following graduation from high school, students may change their designated major.
The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements are mandated by the Texas State Legislature. Registration information for the THEA exam is available from Testing Services at 817-272-2362, Davis Hall, Room 210.
High School principals should verify that a student who participates in a college curriculum will not be disqualified from a desired University Interscholastic League (UIL) competition.
