THE STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM IN SENEGAMBIA
Course: Senegambia and the Atlantic Diaspora (HIST 4391/5391/6391)
The course examines the multi-faceted history of Senegambia through the modern period as well as how Senegambia was integrated into the Atlantic World through the slave trade. The course adopts an interdisciplinary approach that integrates traditional classroom instruction with field-based learning. This learning method, combined with cultural immersion, challenges students to develop their academic and cross-cultural knowledge and skills. After orientation at UTA students will spend the month of June in Senegambia.
Eligibility: Participants must be University of Texas at Arlington undergraduate and graduate students from any field of study.
Course Guide: Students are required to register for one of the following pre-requisites before applying for the summer abroad course.
