LTC Archie Davis III '86

Imagine being responsible for the oversight of all finance operations in five different countries for your corporation. A little overwhelming?
Not to LTC Archie Davis III ‘86. During his last deployment, he served as the Deputy Commander for the 336th Theater Finance Command. The Central Command’s area of financial responsibility included the countries of Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Qatar, and the Horn of Africa. During this period, he journeyed to all of these countries to ensure finance operations were executed effectively and efficiently in support of a host of operations including Nation Building and even assistance with establishing a banking structure within Iraq proper.
LTC Archie P. Davis III, joined the Army after graduating high school. After serving a little over 2 years on active duty and completing 1 year of college, he won a 3 year ROTC Scholarship (an active duty program which awarded 125 scholarships per year to deserving soldiers). He was released from active duty in July 1983 in order to attend The University of Texas at Arlington full time, and to pursue an Army commission.
While participating in the ROTC (Maverick Battalion) program at UT Arlington, as a MS II Cadet, he served as the Cadet First Sergeant for Charlie Company, and served as a member of the Color Guard. As a MS III, he served as the Commander of the UTA ROTC Color Guard. After distinguishing himself during summer camp at Fort Riley, Kansas during the summer of 1985, he became the first African American to serve as the Cadet Corps Commander. He earned the coveted “George C. Marshall ROTC” award and numerous other awards for his service as a ROTC Cadet. In May 1986, LTC Davis earned a commissioned as a second lieutenant and graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington’s ROTC program as a Distinguished Military Graduate. In December 1986, LTC Davis graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) with a BBA degree in Management. Additionally, while attending UTA, he was inducted into “Who’s Who Among America’s Colleges and Universities,” and was selected as one of “America’s Most Outstanding Young Men” in 1985. He re-entered active duty on January 4, 1987 as an Air Defense Artillery Officer, and served with the 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He branched transferred to the Finance Corps in May 1991. LTC Davis also holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Phoenix.
LTC Davis currently serves as the Deputy Director, 13th Financial Management Center, Fort Hood, Texas. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (w/ 4 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (w/ 3 OLC), the National Defense Service Medal (w/ 1 OLC), the Southwest Asia Medal w/3 Bronze Stars, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Saudi Arabia/Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Parachutist and Air Assault Badges. He was inducted into the Honorable order of “Saint Barbara” – Artillery Branch. He was also designated as a “Distinguish Member of the Finance Corps Regiment” for his legacy of landmark contributions and special acts which has brought distinct credit to the Finance Corps.
