Things to Know
- SCHOLARSHIP FORM: Download above form and type answers directly in the document, typed submissions preferred.
- The scholarship application process begins March 2, 2009.
- The Scholarship Committee will review and select the recipients in July 2009.
- Include documentation requested under the requirements for each scholarship.
- Applicants must furnish a UTA transcript, and may include transcripts for all colleges attended. Transcripts must be official.
- Double check the application deadlines.
- The Scholarship Reception is scheduled for August 27, 2009.
- The number of scholarships awarded per donor and the amount of awards are subject to change.

African-American Endowed Scholarship
requirements: Sophomore classification or higher; demonstrated financial need; Submit 2 reference letters to demonstrate academic success; African- American origin; full-time student at UTA in good standing.
award: $500
Alumni Association Scholars Program
requirements: For continuing UTA students; Junior or Senior standing; demonstrated academic achievement; evidence of a high degree of motivation toward a career goal; minimum GPA of 3.0; minimum 24 hours passed and completed at UTA; enrolled full-time. Submit a 200-word/2 page essay outlining your vision/intentions for involvement with UTA through the Alumni Association upon graduation.
award: $1,000
Architecture Alumni Topping Out Endowed Scholarship
requirements: Interior Design, Landscape Architecture or Architecture major: Full-time student with 15 credit hours completed at UTA; 3.25 GPA; Demonstrate leadership ability and potential for success; Applicants who maintain the required GPA may reapply for up to 3 years.
award: $500
Igor Fraiberg Endowed Scholarship in Engineering
requirements: Engineering sophomore, junior or senior; Undergraduate; Preference given to mechanical or metallurgical engineering; 3.0 GPA; submit short essay demonstrating career goals; demonstrate financial need.
award: $2,500
Frankie S. Hansell Endowed Scholarship
requirements: U.S. Citizen; Graduate or Undergraduate student; Preference to females, but not limited to females; Demonstrated financial need; Submit transcripts to demonstrate academic success.
award: $1,000
Hispanic Endowed Scholarship
requirements: For continuing UTA students who have completed 15 hours at UTA; Hispanic origin; Full-time enrollment in good standing; 2.5 GPA; Submit a transcript to demonstrate leadership ability; Submit a letter demonstrating financial need.
award: $500
Daniel Kauth Endowed Scholarship
requirements: Marketing major; Full-time student; Submit transcript and a letter stating career goals and future commitment to UTA, Demonstrated financial need.
award: $500
Cothburn O’Neal Endowed Scholarship
requirements: Military Science Cadet with the highest GPA in his/her military science class; U.S. Citizen; Submit a transcript and a letter stating career goals; Provide one reference from faculty member at UTA; Demonstrated financial need.
award: $350
Norma Jane Pitman Roberts Endowed Scholarship
requirements: Preference given but, no limited to first generation college students; Business major; Demonstrated financial need; Submit a transcript 2.5 GPA required.
award: $500
John Berry Rogers Scholarship
requirements: Current student at UTA in good standing; Active Student Alumni Association member for a minimum of 2 semesters; Held a leadership position in at least two major Student Alumni Association functions; Demonstrated financial need; 2.5 GPA; Submit a transcript and 2 recommendation letters from faculty/staff or alumni of the organization.
award: $500
Simmons-Blackwell Endowed Scholarship
requirements: First generation college student with less than 90 hours; Demonstrated financial need; Submit a transcript 2.5 GPA required; Submit letter outlining career goals.
award: $1,000
Student Alumni Association Sophomore Scholarship
requirements: Sophomore classification with 15 hours completed at UTA; Submit a transcript 2.75 GPA required; Submit a 100 word essay stating most significant experience and/or accomplishment in their life; Enrolled in 9 hours minimum; Demonstrated financial need.
award: $1,000
Van Siclen Family Endowment Scholarship
requirements: Currently enrolled Junior or Senior students; 2.5 GPA; US citizen who is eligible for in-state tuition; Preference is given to those candidates who can also demonstrate campus leadership or student activity involvement on application. Junior awardees who maintain a 2.5 GPA are eligible to reapply as Seniors.
award: $500
Weiss Family Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Engineering
requirements: Engineering Junior or Senior; Full-time student; 3.0 GPA; Preference is given to employed students who can demonstrate the Principles of the IE curriculum into their current job; submit short essay describing your work, career and future Alumni Association goals. Recipients may reapply for up to 2 years.
award: $500
Karin McCallum Endowed Scholarship
requirements: Speech-Communication major; full-time student; junior or senior; submit transcript, professional resume, and letter of recommendation from a Communication professor. Contact Department of Communication.
award: $500

Lloyd Clark Scholarship in Journalism
requirements: Junior or Senior; completed 15 hours at UTA; full-time student with commitment to journalism career; noticeable academic achievement; evidence of success in journalism; may consider financial need; sample of writing to be submitted. Contact Department of Communication.
award: $500
deadline: March 24, 2009
Pitman-Roberts Endowed Scholarship
requirements: Outstanding leadership qualities; completed 15 hours at UTA and currently enrolled; cannot have completed more than 4 semesters; currently enrolled in Military Science I or II. Contact Military Science Department.
award: $300 and UTA President’s Office Match: $300

Sue & Art Mosby Scholarship Endowment in Music
requirements: Enrolled in music; full-time student at UTA in good standing; demonstrated financial need; demonstrated musical ability with potential to complete UTA degree; audition required. Contact the Department of Music.
award: $350
deadline: April 9, 2009
Emerging Leader Award (Nomination Only)
requirements: Student must be actively involved in at least one organization and have assumed leadership roles or responsibilities in some capacity; Minimum GPA of 2.25. First time nominations only. This award is non-renewable.
award: Two awards of $750
deadline: March 9, 2009
Outstanding Student Leader Awards (Nomination Only)
requirements: Student must be involved in at least two organizations and have held a primary leadership position in at least one; must have made significant contributions to their organizations within the past year; Minimum GPA of 2.25.
award: Two awards of $1000
deadline: March 9, 2009
Matthew E. Brown Leadership Award (Nomination Only)
requirements: Student must be involved in at least two organizations and have held a primary leadership position in at least one; Minimum GPA of 2.25. Selection will be based on level of involvement, effectiveness as a leader, and length of time served in leadership roles at UTA.
award: $1250
deadline: March 9, 2009
