Research Interests:

M. Kathryn Brown's specializes in ancient Mesoamerican archaeology. She has conducted research for over a decade in the Maya Lowlands, working at several sites in Belize River Valley . Her research interests include the origin and function of public architecture and associated ritual behavior, as well as ancient Maya warfare patterns. Her secondary regional focus is Texas archaeology. She has conducted excavations on several prehistoric and historic sites in central and north Texas .
