computer purchase requirement
EDUCATIONAL GOAL:
Develop your ability to use digital technology to design buildings, building interiors and landscapes today and in the future.
EXPECTED USES:
Students are expected to use their laptops at the direction of faculty in design studios as well as in elective coursework in: energy analysis, history and theory, technology and the development of technical skills in animating graphics, rendering graphics and in making three-dimensional graphic models.
REQUIREMENTS for UNDERGRADUATE ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN STUDENTS:
The UT Arlington School of Architecture does not endorse any particular computer brand and/ or vendor.
Any laptop computer meeting the minimum requirements specified in the General Hardware Specification for All Student Laptop Computers section of this document (below) is acceptable for use by qualified students. Because there are differences in the acceptable operating systems specified in this document, students seeking to run applications software like Autocad Student Edition are requested to read the General Hardware Specification for All Student Laptop Computers (AY 2007-08) and General Software Specification for All Student Laptop Computers (AY 2007-08) sections of this guide carefully.
All undergraduate Architecture majors are required to have a laptop computer that meets or exceeds the School's minimum requirements when they enroll in:
Architecture 3343: DESIGN COMMUNICATION III.
Undergraduate Interior Design majors should consult their program faculty for information on specific course requirements.
REQUIREMENTS for GRADUATE ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS:
All graduate Architecture students are required to have a laptop computer that meets or exceeds the School's minimum requirements when they enter Path B of the graduate professional degree program.
All graduate Landscape Architecture students are required to have a laptop computer that meets or exceeds the School's minimum requirements when they accept admission to the Landscape Architecture program and when they enroll in:
