TEX-FAB's APPLIED: Research through Fabrication Exhibition at UTA School of Architecture

Highlighted within the APPLIED: Research through Fabrication exhibition at the TEX-FAB 4 conference held at UTA School of Architecture February 28th – March 3rd 2012, was Cast Thicket by yo_cy’s Ken Tracy and Christine Yogiaman. The work was selected the winner of the APPLIED: Research through Fabrication competition, commissioned and built after its selection from the second round group culled from over 70 entries from 17 counties on 4 continents. The jury of internationally recognized academics and practitioners included Billie Faircloth, Jason Vollen, Jonathan Mallie, Gil Akos and Ronnie Parsons in the first round and Branko Kolarevic, Andrew Kudless, Nader Tehrani and Vlad Tenu, winner of the previous TEX-FAB competition, in the second round juried at the Synthetic Digital Ecologies ACADIA conference in San Francisco, October 2012.
TEX-FAB commissioned Cast Thicket by sponsoring the APPLIED: Research through Fabrication and partnering with yo_cy as the fabrication consultants for the realization of the project as it appears in the APPLIED: Research through Fabrication exhibition. TEX-FAB is a non-profit organization formed by Brad Bell, Kevin McClellan, and Andrew Vrana as a collective action, one that endeavors to combine divergent interests and capabilities, for the purpose of strengthening the regional discourse around digital fabrication and parametric design
