Art and Music Collaborate for SynaesthesiaPosted on April 30, 2012
The Art + Art History department and the Music department have collaborated on a project titled Synaesthesia. The term refers to a neurological condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Professor Tore Terrasi’s students in Art 2304, and Professor Micah Hayes students in Music 3394 have combined their talents to create a series of animations accompanied by original pieces of music.
Professor Terassi says, “My students were very excited to work on these animations. Most of them have never animated before but they were all intrigued to be working with other students from music. The process was great for the students in that it mimicked a real world work setting where multiple pieces from multiple creative sources come together.”
