Beth Wright speaks at International Symposium in LondonPosted on August 27, 2009
Beth Wright was an invited speaker at an international symposium at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London in June 2009. The symposium (“1789, 1989, 2009: Changing Perspectives on Post-Revolutionary Art”), organized by graduate students at the Courtauld Institute of Art, University College – London, and the University of Michigan brought together speakers from France, Great Britain, America, Germany, and India to consider how new methodologies (especially those privileging subjectivity) shed light on art in revolutionary and post-revolutionary France. Dr. Wright’s presentation was entitled “Moving Pictures: Scott’s Novels Represented by Delacroix, Roqueplan, Boulanger and the Devéria Brothers in Gaugain’s Lithographic Suite of 1829-1830.” The event took place on June 12 - 13.
