David Taylor Lecture: The War Next DoorPosted on November 03, 2011
David Taylor will lecture on “Working the Line: Physical, Social and Political Topography of the U.S./Mexico Border” on Wednesday, November 9th at 12:30 pm in Fine Arts 148. This lecture is part of the UT Arlington series, “The War Next Door” and sponsored by the Department of Art and Art History.
David Taylor is Professor at New Mexico State University. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008 for his photographs of the border. His monograph of this work was published in spring of this year by Radius Books.
Taylor’s photographs explore the topography and landscape of the border as well as an intimate look behind the scenes with the border patrol.
Taylor is a professor in photography at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. His photographs, multimedia installations and artist’s books have been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions nationally. Taylor has recently completed major commissions for artwork that is installed in the US Border Patrol Station in Van Horn, Texas and the US Federal Courthouse in Las Cruces.
