Dr.Mary Vaccaro Research in France
Posted on August 16, 2012
Last summer, with a generous grant from the Texas Fund for Curatorial Research, Mary Vaccaro surveyed the holdings of Italian pre-1600 drawings in the collections of seven French regional museums: Bayonne, Besançon, Dijon, Lille, Rennes, Rouen, and Strasbourg. The Texas Fund for Curatorial Research supported another trip this summer that allowed her to return to Besançon, as well as to visit important collections in the south of France (specifically, Avignon, Grenoble, Lyon, Marseille, and Montpellier) that she did not see last summer due to time constraints. The goal of this project is to bring to Dallas-Fort Worth an exhibition of spectacular works on paper that will explore changes in the practice of and attitude toward “disegno” in Renaissance Italy.
