MFA Alumni Collin Hover Places 3rd In Dev DerbyPosted on August 06, 2012
MFA Alumni Collin Hover is the third place winner of the June Mozilla Dev Derby. Hovers submission into the competition was "Kai 'Opua", his thesis project while attending UTA. The judges were especially impressed with the originality and practicality aspects of the demo. Hover was credited with doing a great job “showing the world that we no longer need the desktop to explore real 3D environments.”
The Mozilla Dev (short for developers) Derby is a monthly rotating competition sponsored by Mozilla to encourage and showcase unique software demos from across the world. Each month a different type of software is featured. The June Dev Derby WebGL brings the power of OpenGL, for creating interactive 3D graphics, to the Web, with no plug-ins required. Other winners have gone on to win first place in future Derbies that are held. The UTA Art + Art History department would like to congratulate Collin on his achievement and wish him luck on his future endeavors.
