MFA: Points of convergence
This year The Gallery at UTA will host the College Art Association’s Annual Exhibition which coincides with the CAA Annual Conference. The exhibition, Points of Convergence: Masters of Fine Arts, was organized by Benito Huerta, Associate Professor and Gallery Director at UT Arlington. The exhibition represents a group of nationally recognized professional artists that have received an M.F.A. degree and pairs them with current M.F.A. student artists from the same colleges, universities, and art schools. Points of Convergence is open for public viewing January 22–March 4, 2008. |
Design Texas
Design Texas is known for placing UTA's Visual Communication students in a real work environment. Each semester, students work with real clients and real world projects. Instead of resting on a carbon copy syllabi, the clients, as well as the unique student solutions, give Design Texas it's popular allure. Prospective clients get the opportunity to have several designers working on their projects, all with a different perspective. Upper level design students are at work behind the scene in identity development and branding solutions. When all the work is said and done, the client gets to hand pick the design they feel suits them best. |
BFA Student Work: Spring and fall 2007
At the close of every fall and spring semester, graduating BFA Students exhibit their work in The Gallery at UTA. The exhibition is a reflection of the accumulated skills and techniques that they have acquired during their undergraduate career with The Department of Art and Art History at UT Arlington. Seniors from all areas of concentration within the department participated in what resulted in an exemplary showcase of work. |
INAuGURal foundry pour
The Department of Art + Art History celebrated the inaugural pour of the Sculpture Department's new Foundry, installed recently in the Studio Arts Center on UTA campus. Preparations for the foundry began early in August and the department has invited visiting artist Daniel Hunt to oversee the initial pourings and set up, as well as begin teaching students the basics of casting. Students in the Sculpture classes will begin with aluminum castings and continue to explore other methods of casting throughout the next year. |
SPE conference
Along with the several speakers and presentations, student works were on display throughout the week of and during the conference. Several locations around UTA campus hosted the work of talented student photographers and artists. |
