The Galleries at UTA's mission is to extend and enhance the programs
of the
Department of Art and Art History through the following activities:
· examine artistic production through exhibitions and publications
· serve the curricular needs of faculty and students of the Department
of
Art and Art History
· provide the UTA and regional community with quality programming
in
contemporary art

and
for developing and implementing programs and/ or exhibitions
· provide residencies for artists which encourage the production
of new
works and access to students and the community
As an integrated, inter-media, research and exhibition facility The Gallery
is a focus for advanced studies in contemporary art. The mission of The
Gallery is the presentation of contemporary art in a critical and creative
context. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting the creation
of
new art by regional, national and international artists through residencies,
exhibitions, and other programming forums. The Gallery is committed to
presenting and commenting on current trends and ideas which engage
contemporary artists from a variety of perspectives.
The Gallery wishes to generate and maintain awareness and interest in
its
programs in the general north Texas community. The Gallery emphasizes
support to Texas artists and representation of the cultural diversity
of the
state.
The Gallery presents at least four exhibitions a year which include works
by
regional, national and international contemporary artists. A Bachelor
of
Fine Arts exhibition will end each fall and spring semester. Programming
extends to lectures, symposia and residencies for the UTA community and
the
public.
