Protein Engineering (Ph.D. Only)
This area of study includes developing useful and valuable proteins, creating their structure and developing a function. The two general strategies for protein engineering include 'rational' protein design, and directed evolution. Protein Engineering can serve as a useful tool for research and new drug development. Currently, the majority of research work is conducted at UT Southwestern under Professor Sally Ward. A limited number of students are admitted into this program/track. Please inquire regarding the availability by emailing be@uta.edu.
