Conference Resources
The Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference (SBEC) series was conceived by a small group of bioengineering professionals from academia and industry located primarily in the South of the United States in 1982. The first Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference was held at the LSU Medical Center, Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1982. Since then it has been held annually in different cities, mostly in the southern United States. The SBEC serves a special purpose by emphasizing participation from young professionals and advanced students. Work presented by these authors alongside with the more senior researchers. Since established investigators present papers in the same sessions with the students, it encourages a high level of professionalism as a standard for young investigators and students. In keeping with the emphasis on student participation, the SBEC presents best paper awards to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students based on both their written papers and presentations at the conference.
The most recent ten SBEC meetings were held at the following locations:
26th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 2010, College Park, MD
25th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 2009, Miami, FL
24th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 2008, El Paso, TX
23rd Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 2007, Washington, DC
22nd Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 2003, Charlotte, NC
21st Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 2002, Washington, DC
20th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 2001, Birmingham, AL
19th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 2000, Blacksburg, VA
18th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 1999, Clemson, SC
17th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference, 1998, San Antonio, TX
