Genome biology is widely regarded as the key area of scientific discovery for the 21st century. Sequencing of the genomes of a rapidly growing number of organisms from throughout the Tree of Life marks the beginning of a revolution in the life sciences. Large-scale sequencing and emerging techniques in functional genomics are changing the way we approach fundamental questions in biology and understand the complexity of living organisms.
The Department of Biology at the University of Texas at Arlington is making major advances in this field, through both strategic hires and support of successful faculty whose research interests lie in genome biology. We are pleased to introduce the group of researchers and students involved in this area, and announce the creation of a 8,000 square foot facility to accommodate new laboratories and a genomics research center.
