Create a Quiz or Test

Quizzes and tests can be added within a Content Page such as Course Materials or from the Control Panel within Tests, Surveys and Pools.

QUICK STEPS: Creating a Test from a Content Area

1. In a Content Area, select Test from the Assessment drop-down list.

2. On the Create Test page, select Create.

3. The Test Information page will display. Enter a test Name and click Submit

NOTE: A description and instructions are optional.

4. The Test Canvas will display. On the Create Question drop-down list, select the desired question type. In this example, we will create a Multiple Choice question.

5. The Create/Edit Multiple Choice Question page will display. Enter the Question Text.

6. Select Options, such as showing answer options in random order.

7. Enter the answer options in the Answer text boxes and select the radio button to the left of the correct answer.

NOTE: By default the first option is set to correct.

8. (Optional) Enter any Feedback, set Categories and/or enter Instructor Notes.

9. Click the Submit button.

10. The Test Canvas will display. Continue creating test questions.

NOTE: Each question is set to 10 points by default. Click within the Points box to edit this value.

11. Click the OK button to save the test questions and deploy the test.

QUICK STEPS: Deploy the Test

1. Click the test within the Add an Existing Test box.

Click Submit to set test options.

2. Enter any test information that you wish to display within the test link.

NOTE: Students will see this information before the test is started.

3. The Test Options page will display. Under Test Availability, select the Yes option for Make the Link Available and select other settings as needed.

  • Multiple Attempts: Allows you to set more than one attempt. Leave blank to default to one attempt.
  • Force Completion: If selected, students will not be allowed to re-enter a test if they are kicked out for any reason (not a recommended setting).
  • Set Timer: The timer begins counting down when the student begins the test. It will not stop counting down even if the student leaves the test.
  • Auto-Submit: If turned “on”, the test will automatically submit when the timer expires.
  • Display Dates: Date settings limit when the students will see the link to the test.

4. Set Test Availability Exceptions only when needed (if not needed, please skip).

5. Enter a Due Date and select due date options (optional).

6. We recommend that you DO NOT CHANGE the default Self-assessment Options.

7. Select the Test Results and Feedback options that will be displayed when the test is submitted. NOTE: You can select one, multiple, or all options and can set when you would like these items to display.

8. Select Test Presentation options.
