Grade an Assignment

Review submitted assignments in your web browser, where you can view the document just as it was submitted – original formatting preserved. Enter annotations and enter a grade without having to download the document.

QUICK STEPS: Grading an Assignment Submission

1. Scroll down to the Control Panel and select Grade Center.

Click the Full Grade Center option from the drop-down list.

2. Locate the Assignment column. Hover over the Needs Grading icon and click the chevron button.

3. Select the Attempt marked with the Needs Grading icon.

4. The submission will display within Blackboard. Click the Add Comment button to display annotation tools. These tools enable you to provide feedback as comments, highlights, and illustrations directly on the document’s inline view (see below for more information about these tools). You also have the option to download the submission.

5. Once you have completed any annotations, enter a grade in the Attempt Grade field.

NOTE: If you enter a value in the Grade field, it will be considered as an overridden grade. This field will update with the value entered in the Attempt Grade field. 

(Optional) Enter feedback and/or return the file if needed.

6. Click Submit.
