Workshop Descriptions

Blackboard Comprehensive

This 4-day workshop covers the major components of Blackboard and will get you started in developing your course. We will provide in-depth hands on training using a variety of Blackboard's tools and features. This workshop is ideal for faculty who have never used a Learning Management System (LMS) before and/or those who would like detailed training on the features of Blackboard 9.1.

  1. Day 1: We will start with the basics of Blackboard including UTA's policies and procedures concerning Blackboard, course creation, course access, login information, course tools and uploading materials. You will have the opportunity to begin populating your course with your syllabus and other course materials.
  2. Day 2: As a follow up to day 1, you will learn to attach the materials that were uploaded in Day 1 to Announcements. We will move towards the specifics of Email, Discussion Boards, Blogs, Journals and Wikis. We will conclude with Groups.
  3. Day 3: Now that you know how to access our courses, upload content, and communicate with students, you will learn how to assess students with Assignments, SafeAssignments, and Tests.
  4. Day 4: The last step in this 4-day course is learning to maintain your assessment grades and copy course materials to other course shells. We will discuss the Grade Center in depth and demonstrate the Course Copy and Export/Import processes.
