Kaltura Mashups
The Kaltura Media Mashup tool allows you to add media to a text editor. The mashup tool also allows you to create a screen capture recording which you cannot do within the regular tool.
Quick Steps: Kaltura Mashups

1. Within a text editor (such as within an Assignment submission or Discussion thread), expand the tools menu of the text editor by clicking the chevron button on the top right (NOTE: this step may not be necessary if you have expanded the menu in another location within the course). |

2. Click the Mashups button and select Kaltura Media from the drop-down menu. |

3. The Kaltura Media window will display. You will be given a few options for uploading:

Using Videos from My Media |
|

1. Locate the video from the list and click the Select button. |

2. Select the Mashup Options for the item and click Submit. |

3. A thumbnail of the video will appear in the description box. Select any other necessary options for the item and click Submit. |

Upload a File from Your Computer |
|
|
1. Click Upload media or record from webcam. |

|
2. Click the Browse button on the Upload tab. Select the video from your local computer files. Click Upload. (NOTE: processing may take several minutes.) |

3. When upload is complete, click Next. |

|
4. Add a title, description, or tags if desired, then click Next. |

5. Select the Mashup Options for the item and click Submit. |

6. A thumbnail of the video will appear in the description box. Select any other necessary options for the item and click Submit. |

Record from a Webcam |
|
|
1. Click Upload media or record from webcam. |

|
2. In the pop-up box select Webcam to create a video using your webcam. |

3. Select the Allow button within the Adobe Flash Player Settings window. |

4. A list of available web cameras will display in the drop down menu. Once the appropriate webcam is connected (indicated by your image displaying in the window on the right), click the Record button. |

5. Once you have completed your recording, click the Stop button. |

6. Click Play to view the recording or Record to start the recording over. Once you are satisfied with your video, click Next. |

7. Add a Title and tags or a description then click the Next button. |

8. Select the Mashup Options for the item and click Submit. |

9. A thumbnail of the video will appear in the description box. Select any other necessary options for the item and click Submit. |

Kaltura Screen Recorder |
|
|
1. In the pop-up box select Kaltura Screen Recorder to create a screen capture video. |

2. Select the Run button within the RunApplet window. |

|
3. A frame for the recording area will display. Drag and drop and/or resize the frame around the area you wish to capture. Click the red record button. |

4. A countdown will appear and your screen will start recording. |

5. Once you have completed your recording, click the Done button. |

6. Add a Title and tags or a description then click the Upload button. |

7. When the upload completes, click the Close button. |

8. Select the Mashup Options for the item and click Submit. |

9. A thumbnail of the video will appear in the description box. Select any other necessary options for the item and click Submit. |
