BUSINESS WEEK 2012

Developments that Change Communities and Campuses
March 26-30
Business Week 2012, scheduled March 26-30, will feature leaders, innovators and professionals from a wide spectrum of enterprises and industries. For students, Business Week is an opportunity to meld theory with application. Executive speakers will present during regularly scheduled undergraduate and graduate classes. Students not enrolled in these classes may attend those with scheduled speakers during Business Week.
Business Week Schedule of Speakers
For 2012, many Business Week speakers will present on economic developments that enhance communities. UT Arlington’s own College Park District, one of the University’s most significant ventures ever, will be a prominent example in this week-long interactive discussion.
|
The $160 million College Park District spans more than 20 acres and includes a broad range of amenities, with the University’s College Park Center as its focal point. Also included in this massive mixed-use development are The Green at College Park, an urban oasis and green space for the University community, as well as a residence hall, student apartments, retail stores and restaurants, a new University welcome center, and an 1800-car parking garage. |
UT Arlington broke ground in fall 2010 on College Park, a residential and retail development that underscores the strong ties between the University and its downtown neighbors. The $80 million project features a residence hall wrapped around an 1,800-vehicle parking garage with street-level retail and office suites south of UTA Boulevard, between Pecan and Center streets. It also includes a campus welcome center, a satellite campus police station, and 81 apartment units. Expected to open in summer 2012, the development will provide housing for about 600 students.
THE BUSINESS WEEK EXECUTIVE DINNER | MARCH 28
|
A highlight of Business Week 2012 will be the Executive Dinner on Wednesday, March 28. The event’s keynote speaker will be Larry O’Donnell, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rockwater Energy Solutions, a provider of innovative services to the oil and gas industry. Previously, Mr. O’Donnell served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Waste Management, Inc., the leading waste, recycling, renewable energy, and environmental services firm in North America. In 2010, he was featured on the CBS Television Network show “Undercover Boss,” which follows high-ranking corporate officers as they try to work undetected as lower-level employees. The Executive Dinner will be held on the floor of College Park Center. To purchase table sponsorships or tickets to the event, download the Sponsor & Ticket Form. |
