- Kevin Simmons (BBA ’78), Professor of Economics at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant. Kevin will use his Fulbright research grant during the spring semester 2010 conducting research at the International Center for Geohazards in Oslo, Norway. Learn more.

- Dr. Roland Fryer (BBA ‘98 ), professor of economics at Harvard University and CEO of Harvard’s Education Innovation Laboratory, was honored by Time Magazine as one of the world’s 100 most influential people in 2009. View the 2009 Time 100.

- Anthony J. Perri, M.D. (MSHCA ’08),of Corsicana was recently appointed to the position of clinical associate professor of urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Perri practiced urology for almost 25 years in Corsicana. He is currently director of the Advanced Prostate Cancer Service and attending urologist at the Dallas VA Medical Center, where he is conducting research in the chemoprevention of prostate cancer in veterans with Agent Orange exposure. He also serves on the Institutional Review Board that oversees all VA research in North Texas.
- Teresa Hanson (BBA ‘83, MBA ‘86),was recently named U.S. director of marketing and product management for Vetoquinol USA, an animal health products company. - Danielle Marie Georgiou's (BBA ‘06, MA '08) first book, The Politics of State Public Arts Funding, has been released as announced by German publisher VDM Verlag Dr. Müller Aktiengesellschaft & Co. KG. Danielle is an Adjunct Professor of Dance with the University of Texas at Arlington's Department of Kinesiology. She is also the Assistant Director of the UTA Dance Ensemble. - Kurt Jaeger (BBA ‘84) was featured in the January 19, 2009 Fort Worth Star-Telegram for being a grocery entrepreneur. Jaeger purchased several Minyard Food Stores, changing the names to City Market. The article said Jaeger paid his way through UT Arlington by working at Safeway.
- Brian McDermott (BBA ‘86) joined Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) on Dec 10 as Vice President of Supplier Management. McDermott comes to AIA from Paragon Dynamics, a Denver-based company that specializes in aerospace and intelligence system development and engineering, program management and technical support needs. He previously worked for L-3 Communications and served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force. In his new position, he oversees all efforts to support and advocate for aerospace suppliers and foster good relationships with prime contractors. Founded in 1919, AIA represents the nation's leading manufacturers and suppliers of civil, military, and business aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial systems, space systems, aircraft engines, materiel, and related components, equipment services, and information technology. - Kendra Brown (BBA ‘89) has been named Oconee County assistant administrator for administration and finance. Oconee County is located in South Carolina. For the past eight and a half years, Brown has worked as an accountant in the Pickens County finance department. Prior to that, she worked as for Clemson University as an internal auditor as well as with a private accounting firm. Brown is a certified public accountant and certified government finance officer. - Jim Wilkinson (BBA ’93) has joined Brunswick Group LLC, a leading global communications consultancy, as Managing Partner for International Business and Financial Strategy. Mr. Wilkinson joins Brunswick from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he has served since 2006 as Chief of Staff to Secretary of the Treasury Henry M. Paulson, Jr. As Chief of Staff, he has served as Secretary Paulson's senior strategist and counselor, and has worked closely with the Secretary on crisis management and matters of domestic and international finance. - Roland Fryer (BBA ’98) appeared December 1 on The Colbert Report to talk about his program to pay inner-city youth to get good grades in school. Fryer earned a bachelor’s degree in economics at UT Arlington and is a professor in economics at Harvard University and founder of the American Inequality Lab. November 2008.
