Memorial Service to Remember Information Systems Faculty Member Kenneth Sears

June 23, 2014—Kenneth D. Sears, senior lecturer in the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management in the College of Business, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014. Sears joined the information systems department faculty in 1998, and also was a continuing education instructor at UT Arlington and Tarrant County College. He earned his MBA from UT Arlington in 1996 and a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration degree from Dallas Baptist University. Before joining UTA, Sears was a systems analyst with Southwest Airlines, a senior engineering manager with Fujitsu ICL Systems Inc., and CEO of North American Systems Associate and Universal Software Corporation. He really enjoyed teaching and was able to bring his vast knowledge from the field into the classroom.

Sears’ research focused on the transition to Web 3.0 technology via cloud computing, dataweb technologies and 3-D virtual business worlds.

Sears was a popular faculty member and a dedicated supporter of UT Arlington. He was a Texas Border Volunteer and a private airplane pilot.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25 at Greenwood Chapel located at 3100 White Settlement Road in Fort Worth, Texas. The family invites all friends, colleagues and students to attend. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood.
