FAQs

Why choose the UT Arlington Executive MBA?

When do classes meet and how often?

Classes meet for two weekends per month, typically alternating, over 15 months: Friday 1-8 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The program begins with a cohort orientation in mid-August and culminates with graduation in December the following year.

Is any of the program available online?

The UTA Executive MBA program is only available by classroom-based delivery. We feel strongly that the collaborative classroom dynamic and team-based projects are a critical part of the EMBA experience and cannot be duplicated in an online format.

What if I have to travel for work and can’t make a class?

We expect our students to attend every class, but also understand there will be times when an absence is unavoidable. Therefore, we have a very simple policy on absences. If a student misses more than 50% of the classroom days in any single course, he/she will need to retake that course.

Do I have to take the GMAT or GRE to be accepted to the program?

If you have a four-year degree or U.S. equivalent, the GMAT is waived.

How much time outside of classroom time should one expect to spend on coursework?

An average student should expect to spend 10-15 hours per week for most courses, though the peak workload will likely be 20 hours per week.

Is the study abroad in China required?

Yes, it is an integral part of the program, and for many students an unforgettable experience

When is the trip to China, and do I need to have a passport or other things prepared beforehand?

The trip is scheduled for two weeks in mid-October of your final semester in the program. Students should be sure to obtain current passport and travel visas in advance of the trip. The international flight, travel within China, and 3-4 star lodging are included in the tuition, and all travel arrangements are made for students by UTA.

When is the application deadline?

Wednesday, July 20, 2016 — Late Application Deadline

What’s the difference between an Executive MBA versus an MBA?

Simply put, the difference lies in the student’s level of experience and the perspective of the curriculum. The EMBA is designed for mid- to upper-level professionals and managers and delivered from the management perspective. The UTA EMBA program is built on the pillars of leadership, innovation and globalization, and intended to hone the business acumen of those already in a management role, for strategic-level decision-making. A traditional MBA requires a deep dive into the technician’s toolkit, whereas EMBA students already have a highly developed technical skill set, and therefore benefit from a better understanding of the relationships between the business functional areas at a strategic level.

Are there scholarships and financial aid options available?

Yes, there are Federal and private loans available. Affinity organizations may receive discounted tuition rates, and corporate rates are available as well. Contact us for more information.

How can an EMBA help me in my career?

The transformative EMBA experience can improve your job performance in your current role, and prepare you for your next promotion and beyond. You will learn new business paradigms, concepts and strategies you can apply at work immediately.

The MBA continues to be the most widely recognized and valuable graduate business degree, and is relevant and applicable to multiple industries and positions.

What are the classes like?

UTA EMBA cohorts are limited to an ideal size of 20-30 students, and cohorts take each class together in a lock-step format. The small class size lends itself to a highly collaborative, discussion-rich environment, where exchanges take place not only between professor and student, but among students as well. Executive guest speakers regularly offer real-world insights to complement the academic research, theories, and case studies presented.
