What are the admission requirements for getting into the MBA Program?

The MBA Program requires that the student submit a transcript, GMAT/GRE scores, letter of intent, resume, and 3 letters of recommendation. Learn more...

When will a decision be made about my application?

There is no set timeframe within which a decision will be made. To ensure a faster admission decision, please make sure all of the documents required for admission are provided before the posted application deadline. Processing of admissions tends to slow down around the start of a semester due to the volume of applications.

Who evaluates student applications?

Applications are evaluated by the MBA admissions committee.

Where do I find information on the GMAT?

Information about the GMAT and location of test sites is available on the GMAC web site.

Are there any waivers for taking the GMAT?

To be considered for admission into the MBA program, a GMAT score must be submitted with the application before the student is allowed admittance. The applicant may take the GRE, but either test is a condition of admission. There are two exceptions to this rule. The GMAT is waived for Facilitated Admission applicants and MBA Fast Track applicants. Can I submit my application and take the GMAT later?

Yes, the applicant may take the GMAT later. If the applicant meets all other admissions criteria, a provisional admission can be made based upon an unofficial GMAT score report. If admitted, official GMAT scores will need to be sent to the Office of Graduate Studies prior to the end of the first admitted semester.

Where can I find out about my F-1 status?

Do I have to take the TOEFL if I am an international student?

An applicant whose native language is not English must demonstrate a sufficient level of skill with the English language to assure success in graduate studies. Applicants must submit a score of at least 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, a score of at least 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, a minimum score of 40 on the TSE, a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS, or a minimum TOEFL iBT total score of 79 with sectional scores that meet or exceed 22 for the writing section, 21 for the speaking section, 20 for the reading section, and 16 for the listening section to meet this requirement. An applicant holding either a bachelor's or a master's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university is not required to submit a TOEFL, TOEFL iBT, TSE or IELTS score for admission purposes. Any other waivers of the score requirements must be recommended by the applicant's Graduate Advisor and approved by the Dean of Graduate Studies.

Am I eligible for getting courses waived and/or substituted?

Waivers will initially be addressed at the New Student Orientation. After that, for any other waiver or substitution questions, you will need to talk with your Graduate Advisor.

How do I change the semester I am enrolling?

The student would need to submit a Request to Update/Reactivate Application form.

Where do I submit my application?

Applications may be submitted online to the Office of Graduate Studies. Letters of recommendation, resumes and 200-word academic essays may be submitted to Graduate Business Services (GBS). The address for GBS is 701 S. West Street, Suite 107, Box 19376, Arlington, TX 76019-0376.

What is the difference between the MBA Flexible and the MBA Cohort?

Both MBA degrees will grant students the traditional MBA, but they are structured in a different manner. The MBA Flexible is offered on UT Arlington’s main campus and gives students the flexibility to select their own courses. The MBA Cohort is offered in Fort Worth where students will join a team and complete their courses in pre-selected, lock-step format.

Are the MBA Flexible and MBA Cohort different degrees?

No, they are the same degree but they are formatted differently to meet the needs of our students.

Is there an Online MBA Degree offered at UTA?

UT Arlington is transitioning out of the UT System Online MBA Partnership and is no longer accepting applications. Please revisit our website in the future for updates on future online course opportunities.

Can I have a concentration in my MBA?

For MBA Flexible students, a concentration is possible. For most business disciplines, the student must complete 3 courses in that subject. Students interested in Accounting must take 4 courses for a concentration. More information is available about the concentrations available for the MBA Flexible. There is no concentration option available to MBA Cohort students since their electives have been pre-selected for the team.

Does UT Arlington’s MBA program offer study abroad?

Yes, the MBA program does offer a study abroad once a year, visiting the countries of Spain and Portugal. During the visit, students will get an international perspective on business and sustainability. More information is available about MBA Study Abroad. Why are some courses taught only once a year?

Most core or foundation courses are offered all three semesters. Some advanced classes are taught only once a year due to student demands, classroom space and instructor availability.

How does Financial Aid affect my course load?

To qualify for most forms of financial aid administered through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, students must enroll in and complete a certain number of credit hours each semester to meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements to receive future financial aid. Feel free to contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at 817.272.3561 to ensure an understanding of requirements for financial aid.

What is the best way to set up an appointment with my Graduate Advisor?

Prospective and Current students are encouraged to submit their questions through the online Prospective Student form or the Current Student form, respectively. Additionally, contact information for the MBA staff is available online.

What is the duration of the MBA program?

Both the MBA Flexible and the MBA Professional Cohort are 45 hours in length. MBA Flexible students may be eligible for waivers depending on their undergraduate degree and graduate coursework completed.

What is your transfer policy?

Information is available about transferring course work from another AACSB-accredited institution.The form is available for beginning the process. As a disclaimer, transferred courses are only counted as credits for a 3.0 grade point and above for each course. Therefore, when transferring in courses from institutions that observe a +/- grade system, a “B-” grade will not be credited.

Can I earn two master’s degrees at the same time?

The College of Business offers a dual degree strategy in which a student can earn two Master’s degrees. In order to participate, the student must be admitted and enrolled in a Master’s program and meet the admission requirements for the second program. Can I take an MBA Cohort course, even though I am an MBA Flexible student?

Yes, it is possible for MBA Flexible students to take MBA Cohort courses. However, with our cohort classes, we place students who are not MBA Cohort students on a wait list (Standby List) until we know how many seats we have available. To be added to a wait list for a course, feel free to email kaitlin@uta.edu. As a disclaimer, seating is limited and we cannot always accommodate every student who is on our wait list. Please be prepared just in case, and have a backup plan in mind.

How do I know what courses I have left?

Using the student's program of work and the transcript, the student is able to determine what courses have already been successfully accomplished in the MBA program. This will reveal what courses are still needed to be successfully completed in order to graduate with the MBA degree. If the student is not able to make the determination through this method, they are welcome to request a GMAP review from Graduate Business Services by submitting the appropriate form.

Am I able to use an internship toward my degree?

Students are able to use one internship toward their MBA degree as an elective. The Graduate Internship Program forms must be completed and approved before a student will be allowed to register for the internship course and before the activities for the requested internship have begun. Students must have completed 9 hours, have elective credits left, and have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.

If I am a current Online MBA student, where can I find program information?

If I was an Online MBA student and did not complete my MBA, can I continue my studies online?

Since admission has been suspended into the online MBA program, please contact MBA Programs Advisor, Linda Goggans, linda@uta.edu for program review and options.

Can I complete my MBA degree utilizing the Online MBA Degree program?

Courses offered through the University of Texas Online Consortium can be used as transfer credit towards the MBA degree, however, the courses must meet The Office of Graduate Studies transfer course criteria.
