The University hosts a variety of conferences every summer. Below are a list of our Summer 2013 programs along with a brief description. For more information on a program, please follow the associated link, and you will find contact information for the hosting department.

The UT Arlington Athletic Training Education Program will be hosting the 3rd Annual Athletic Training Workshop June 12th through June 14th. The UT Arlington faculty and staff will assist attendees about the profession of Athletic Training. The lectures and hands-on labs will address injury prevention, management, and rehabilitation, taping and bracing, exertional heat illness, sport-related concussion, sport nutrition, college preparation, and many more. Additionally, all attendees will become certified in CPR. This is an exciting opportunity for high school students who are curious about the profession or those who are already working with an Athletic Trainer to learn more about the profession and/or improve their athletic training skills.

Our annual volleyball camp is for all skill levels, from beginning first time players to the volleyball "junkie" that just can't get enough. This one-day camp is designed for middle and high school students aged 12-16, and exposes them to the world of Materials Science and Engineering. The camp will provide an opportunity for the students to learn more about properties of materials including metals, ceramics, polymers, and semiconductors. They will learn how materials break by examining fracture surfaces under electron microscopes. They will also learn how nanoparticles of magnetic material are made and characterized. In a nutshell, this one-day summer camp teaches students about mechanical properties, electrical properties, optical properties, and magnetic properties along with their characterization and application -- helping them see the world around them through the eyes of a material engineer.

Nuclear Energy and Engineering Workshop

The University of Texas at Arlington College of Engineering offers a minor in Nuclear Engineering. In order to promote this program and the other UT Arlington engineering majors, the College offers a one-day high school workshop on Nuclear Energy and Engineering intended for incoming high school juniors, seniors, and students who just graduated. The workshop features talks about nuclear energy and the field of nuclear engineering, a laboratory visit, and hands-on experiments to measure radioactivity in common materials. Students also learn about the electrical engineering and mechanical engineering majors at UT Arlington and how the nuclear minor fits with these programs.

RoPro College Challenge Camp

The RoPro College Challenge Camp is a three day camp for high school juniors, seniors, and new graduates who want to play with robots and learn about college at the same time. The RoPro College Challenge Camp will not only provide students with a fun robot challenge to work on and compete in at the end of camp, but will also cover topics like college financial aid, choosing a university, entrance essays, and how to apply to colleges. By the end of the camp, students will have completed at least one college application to the college of their choice. Challenge yourself and join us for the RoPro College Challenge Camp.

The Music Department at the University of Texas at Arlington is proud to present the 12th Annual Texas All-State Choir Camp. This camp helps singers to be successful in their journey to the Texas All-State Choir and is a wonderful place to make new friends and experience the fun of learning music. This year's camp features experiences clinicians, teaching and assisting students in preparation of the All-State audition music and development of sight-reading skills.

A fun and enriching curriculum of full band rehearsals, instrumental lessons, master classes, sectionals, and electives will be taught by outstanding high school and junior high band directors from across the state. Students will participate in one of five bands based on an audition and perform a final Gala Concert. The camp is open to students entering grades 7-12 in the fall semester of 2013. The UT Arlington Summer Music Camps strive to provide each student an opportunity to work with and learn from the highest quality instructional staff from around the nation. It is our desire that each student return to their own group having grown musically and personally while at the same time enjoying all the fun and excitement of summer camp life. Students may elect to stay on campus or commute.

This five-day camp is designed to strengthen the abilities of beginner, intermediate and advanced students, while providing a variety of experiences in fundamentals, leadership, and performance. Leadership Camp is designed to teach students to be effective squad leaders, drill instructors, section leaders, or band and colorguard officers. Drum Major Camp studies include conducting, marching, teaching fundamentals, drill and music, problem solving, and leadership. Colorguard Camp provides instruction in flag, rifle, or sabre as well as training in dance and movement at all skill levels. The UT Arlington Summer Music Camps strive to provide each student an opportunity to work with and learn from the highest quality instructional staff from around the nation.

UT Arlington Summer Strings Camp provides young musicians who have been playing a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass) for at least one year the opportunity to learn advanced techniques, theory, and music literature from outstanding music educators in a string orchestra setting. High school students can also receive instruction from UT Arlington Music Department professors on Texas All State Audition materials in an All State Master class.

The Welch Summer Scholar Program (WSSP), sponsored by the Robert A. Welch Foundation of Texas, has been active at UT Arlington for more than 15 years. To date, the WSSP has given more the 1,000 students across the state of Texas unique opportunities to emerge in the field of science engaging them in hands-on, university-level research projects using state-of-the-art equipment and modern technology. Professors, student, and researchers in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry open their laboratories to spend five weeks mentoring these future scientists one on one as they pursue a wide range of chemistry-related research goals.
