Citizen Police Academy

Come take a look behind the scenes of your police department.

The University of Texas at Arlington Police Department is now accepting applications from those interested in attending the Citizens Police Academy.

The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) meets one evening weekly from 6:00-9:00 p.m. for 8 weeks.

The CPA is an opportunity for members of the campus community to gain a working knowledge of the everyday operation of the University of Texas at Arlington Police Department. Citizens are provided with information to help them better understand Campus Police Operations which includes class lectures, ride-along with officers, hands on demonstrations, and the opportunity to investigate a mock crime scene. All training is provided at no cost to the attendee.

Officers hope that graduates will take what they have learned into the community, educating others when the opportunity arises, and make decisions that affect the campus community with heightened awareness and better information.

The UT Arlington Police Department celebrated the graduation of its first Citizen's Police Academy class in May of 2011.

Now accepting applications for the February 18 - April 22, 2013 session.  Application deadline is February 4, 2013.  Call Captain Rhodes at 817.272.3901 for more information.
