The Police Communication Center is the nerve center and lifeline of the UTA Police Department.  Each police communication operator plays a vital part in the overall mission of the Department by facilitating emergency and non-emergency response to the UTA Community.

The Police Communication Center is staffed by eight full-time police communications operators.  All police communication operators recieve extensive training, which includes, but is not limited to the following topics:  call prioritization and handling procedures, critical incident procedures, legal issues, Computer Aidied Dispatch (CAD) use, and Criminal Justice Database policies and use.  Police Communications Operators are required to attend Basic Telecommunications training mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).  Police Communications Operators also undergo a 15 week field training program.  

Police Communication Services operates 24 hours a day, throughout the year and acts as a referral source on many campus issues, including:

  • Request for escorts
  • Stuck Elevators
  • Calls for Directions
  • Jumpstarts
  • Requests from Emergency Call Boxes (Code Blue Locations)
