The Department of Campus Recreation teams with the Student Alumni Association to put on one of the most popular traditions on Campus, Oozeball. Oozeball, held yearly on the third Friday in September, is a one day event where students participate in a mud volleyball tournament. Over 100 teams consisting of 6 players each compete in a bracket style tournament until 1 team remains as the champion. Information on how to register can be found on the Student Alumni Association website as the event nears.
Another popular event, Bed Races, is presented by Campus Recreation in conjunction with EXCEL Campus Activities. Bed Races is the longest running tradition on campus dating back over 30 years. Currently held in Maverick Stadium, Bed Races is a 1 night event on the first Thursday of every October. Teams of 5 push a wheeled bed 40 yards to attempt to run the fastest time. Top times of men’s, women’s, and co-ed divisions participate in a final heat to determine an overall winner in each division. Information on how to register can be found on the EXCEL website as the event nears.
