BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE (BS ARCH)

The four-years Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree is a pre-professional degree. It provides the basis for various career possibilities, including the professional degree of Master of Architecture. These advanced degree is normally awarded after two years of graduate study.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INTERIOR DESIGN (BS INTD)

Interior Design at The University of Texas at Arlington is a four-years professional degree which focuses on the commercial, institutional, and large-project scale activities of the profession, a focus very appropriate in the context of architecture.

In the first two years of study, UT Arlington Interior Design students share a degree program that is almost identical to the architecture students. As a result, our graduates have an architectural approach to Interior Design and are valuable contributors to project teams requiring collaboration across multiple disciplines.

After completing the Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design, many of our students go on to complete our Master of Architecture degree to have both professional degrees.

MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE (MARCH)

The purpose of the Master of Architecture degree program is to educate toward ultimate leadership positions within the profession of architecture.

There are three distinct programs of study in architecture, which provide options to graduate students with different backgrounds and needs. Path A requires approximately 3-1/2 years, Path B two years, and Path C one year.

MARCH - PATH A

The MARCH Path A is a 3.5 years program for applicants who hold a degree but do not meet the minimum requirements of a Bachelor of Science in Architecture.

MARCH - PATH B

The MARCH Path B is a 2 years program for applicants who hold a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree or the equivalent from an accredited college or university.

MARCH - PATH C

The MARCH Path C is a one year program for applicants who hold a five-year professional degree in architecture (B.Arch) or a four-year degree in architecture and acceptable professional experience including registration.

MASTER OF CITY AND REGIONAL PLANNING (MCRP)

The MCRP is a two-years program prepares students for careers as professional planners with public, private and nonprofit organizations, and to make a contribution to society through basic and applied research into metropolitan planning and sustainability. The application of planning theory, knowledge, techniques, and skills to “real world” planning problems provides students with practical experience for guiding the future city, region, and nation. Many students incorporate a GIS Certification into those two years of study.

MASTER OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE (MLA)

The 3.5 years Landscape Architecture Program has the dual objectives of providing students with a core of design and technical skills in combination with experiences in pure and applied research. The Landscape Architecture Program enables students to enter practice as landscape architects in private, public, academic, and research organizations.

MASTER OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (MPA)

Public Administration is concerned with the formulation, analysis and implementation of public policy in urban institutions. With an inter­disciplinary focus, this program gives special emphasis to the urban community and the special challenges of public managers who serve in urban areas.

The curriculum is designed to develop leadership capacity, understanding of the political, social, and economic characteristics of today's urban environment and the ability to apply current theories of management and analysis to difficult management issues.

The program is meant as preparation for those entering management careers in gov­ernment for the first time or as career development for those already employed who are seeking upward mobility in public management.

There are two distinct programs of study in public administration; the MPA on-campus and the MPA online. CAPPA offers both on-campus and and on-line MPA degree paths.

MPA On-Campus

Offered at our UT Arlington main campus, the On-Campus MPA offers students 6 emphasis areas comprised of courses specializing in each specific area. MPA students choosing the On-Campus MPA, will be able to maintain a flexible schedule - enrolling as a full-time or part-time student. The On-Campus MPA Program admits new students every fall, spring and summer semester. The program is designed to be completed in two academic years (2 Fall and 2 Spring semesters) by full-time students.

MPA On-Line

The accelerated MPA program is offered online and provides a convenient, flexible way for working professionals or recent graduates to earn their MPA degree, regardless of their schedule or location, without sacrificing academic quality. Students are not required to attend the campus at any time. The program is designed to be completed in seven semesters by part-time students. Students sequentially take two eight-week courses per term except in Summer where courses are taken simultaneously.

MASTER OF PUBLIC POLICY, MA (MPP)

The Master of Public Policy prepares students for challenging careers in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies that require both the comprehension of complex urban issues and the application of tangible solutions.

Ph.D. IN PUBLIC AND URBAN ADMINISTRATION (PUAD)

The PUAD PhD program integrates public administration and policy. It is based on a unique interdisciplinary approach to preparing students for a variety of academic, research and senior public management positions in educational institutions, public and nonprofit organizations. It provides students theoretical and applied knowledge concerning policy and administration.

Ph.D. IN URBAN PLANNING AND PUBLIC POLICY (UPPP)

The UPPP PhD program core courses covers core knowledge and competencies in planning and policy, as well as the courses in the selected field areas prepares students for the field exam. In their first semester, students select their Supervisory Committee based on their interests and take a diagnostic exam. The student’s Supervisory Committee will then guide their course work, including any extra courses needed based on their diagnostic exam.
