Glenn Heights Development Vision: A Plan for Economic Development
Economic development strategies included preserving and monetizing historical sites and landmarks, rezoning land adjacent to the highway for commercial and industrial use, and limiting eligibility for the agricultural tax exemption. Another advantage the city had was the only DART transit center among Dallasâ€™ southern suburbs, so retail development around that center was recommended.
The goals of the study were to:
- Write as complete a history of Glenn Heights as possible to have a clear understanding of how the city came to its existing state of development.
- Identify each historical landmark that should possibly be preserved for next generations and create a trend of an economic development plan.
