APATX18 Legacy Project

This year at the Texas APA Conference the Legacy Project will be a competition and collaboration between universities to form “Consultant Teams” to create a mock resiliency plan for the City of Hitchcock, Texas.

The format will consist of a written proposal, which may be a set of recommendations and/or strategies and a visual component, (i.e., a poster, PowerPoint, website, map) that Students Consultants Teams complete prior to the conference.

Each Texas university with an established planning program is encouraged to submit (1) planning proposal and (1) visual component to be presented at the Texas APA Conference, which is taking place on October 17-19, 2018, in Galveston, Texas. Any person participating in the Legacy Project must register for the conference on the American Planning Association Texas Chapter webpage

*Students who sign up to volunteer at the conference will receive a $50.00 discount to their conference entree fee. Email spa.cappa@gmail.com to sign up to volunteer.

Accredited Planning Students Organizations (PSO) who choose to participate in this year's Legacy Project should review the project's problem statement, requirements, and guidelines, which are outlined in the APATX18 Legacy Project Scope of Work.

Participating teams must email their topic and problem statement to Kelsey Poole at Kelsey.Poole@mavs.uta.edu by September 30, 2018, by 11:59 pm.

The Legacy Project Committee has additionally compiled a list of supporting documents to assist each PSO in the research and planning process.
