CSL Student Ambassador Program

Purpose

The Center for Service Learning (CSL) Student Ambassadors is a diverse group of UT Arlington students from across disciplines that provides service learning awareness, information, and assistance through presentations, events, and outreach to the UTA and surrounding community.

Structure

The team consists of a Chair, a Vice-Chair, Historian, PR & Marketing Coordinator, and Outreach Coordinator. CSL Ambassadors are chosen through an application process and serve for one academic year. Executive meetings will be held bi-weekly. All Ambassadors report to the CSL Assistant Director.

Requirements

  1. GPA of 3.0 or higher
  2. Be in good standing with the university
  3. Be in good standing with the university
  4. Be enrolled full time at the main UTA campus
  5. Be able to serve for a full academic school year
  6. Participate in at least one presentation per semester
  7. Attend CSL trainings and meetings
  8. Fulfill position and general ambassador responsibilities

Ambassador Responsibilities

  • Conduct service learning presentations
  • Collaborate with other CSL Ambassadors to create online CSL newsletter
  • Contribute approximately 3-5 hours per week to CSL contingent upon CSL task
  • Help with service learning SVLN courses
  • Post flyers and posters around campus
  • Work tabling events
    • Awareness tabling
    • Activity fairs and orientations
  • Help with 2 main CSL events in the Spring
    • Partner Breakfast: late January
    • Service Learning Showcase: April
  • Maintain a procedures binder
  • Assist the other Ambassadors
  • Other duties as assigned

Ambassador Positions & Additional Responsibilities

Chair

  • Oversee Ambassadors and Ambassador program
  • Run Ambassador meetings
  • Work directly with CSL Assistant Director
  • Work with Outreach Coordinator and Assistant Director on outreach to community partners and alumni
  • Fulfill all Ambassador responsibilities 

Vice-Chair

  • Take the minutes for meetings and email to Ambassadors
  • Organize and keep records of forms and paperwork for posters and all events
  • Help the Chair
  • Conduct meetings when Chair is not present
  • Fulfill all Ambassador responsibilities 

PR & Marketing Coordinator

  • Keep track of promotional items inventory
  • Design and post flyers and posters
  • Create and maintain button designs and stock
  • Monitor CSL social media, and create at least two posts per week on each
    • Mavericks Lend A Hand Facebook page
    • Twitter
    • Instagram
  • Send electronic newsletters to various departments, staff, faculty, student organizations
  • Work with Outreach Coordinator and Assistant Director on income stream
  • Fulfill all Ambassador responsibilities 

Historian

  • Take pictures and video at service learning project sites and project presentations
  • Gather testimonials
    • From students/faculty/staff/partners
  • Manage all aspects of CSL newsletter through collaboration with other CSL Ambassadors. CSL newsletter will consist of:
      • pictures/testimonials of what we have been doing
      • Stories about service learning student projects
      • Highlights on select students and faculty
      • List of useful service learning books, articles, and websites and service learning journals
  • Fulfill all Ambassador responsibilities 

Outreach Coordinator

  • Fundraising and sales
  • Work with Chair and Assistant Director on outreach to community partners and alumni
  • Manage CSL presentations and tabling events
  • Create socials for Ambassadors
  • Recruit new ambassadors
  • Work with Chair and Assistant Director on income stream
  • Monitor income stream with Assistant Director
  • Campus Involvement
    • Spirit week
    • UTA traditions
    • Homecoming week
  • Coordinate CSL workshops and conferences
  • Fulfill all Ambassador responsibilities
