Areas of Expertise:

Radar hydrology, remote sensing of precipitation and other hydrometeorological and hydrologic variables, assimilation of hydrologic and hydrometeorological data, stochastic and probabilistic methods and techniques including ensemble forecasting of hydrologic and hydrometeorological variables, optimal estimation, stochastic control, statistical hydrology, and stochastic modeling of hydrologic processes in space and time

Background:Before joining UT Arlington, Dr. Seo was a project scientist at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research serving as the leader of the Hydrologic Ensemble Prediction Group at the Hydrology Laboratory (HL) of the Office of Hydrologic Development in the National Weather Service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. At HL, he also led the Hydrometeorology Group, co-led the Distributed Model Intercomparison Project I, and was a co-principal investigator for the NWS Core Project for the Climate Prediction Program for the Americas.

Professional experience:

In prior years, he was a senior researcher at the Environmental Remote Sensing Research Laboratory at the Systems Engineering Research Institute of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, among others.
