Ph.D. Student Reza Broun Wins National Scholarship

Reza BrounThe Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) awarded Reza Broun, a UTA Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering, a highly competitive Sustainability and Energy research scholarship in recognition of his academic excellence and professionalism. The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) is a non-profit non-partisan professional organization that enhances knowledge and expertise by providing a neutral forum for information exchange, professional development, networking opportunities, public education in the dynamic fields of sustainability, energy management, renewable energy and outreach to more than 16,000 professionals in 89 countries.

Reza is currently working on a Ph.D. dissertation entitled "Environmental and Economic Life Cycle Assessment of Bio-reactor Landfills with Consideration of Landfill Mining". He is combining Material Flow Analysis ( MFA), Life Cycle assessment (LCA)and Multi-criteria Decision Making (MCDM) to determine the most sustainable type of landfill in the U.S. Reza is co-supervised by Dr. Melanie Sattler and Dr. Sahadat Hossain in the Department of Civil Engineering.
