Dr. Abolmaali's Culvert Research To Be Incorporated In AASHTO LRFD Specifications

The results of Dr. Ali Abolmaali's research study, shear capacity of reinforced concrete box culverts, was approved by the AASHTO 2008 Bridge Committees T-10 (Concrete Design) and T-13 (Culvert Structures) to be incorporated in the LRFD Bridge Design Specifications: Section 12 Article 12.11.2.1 and Section 4 Article 4.6.2.10.4. The result of this research, which has replaced the current standards, has placed the Civil Engineering Department at UT Arlington in the national bridge design code for the first time. more
