Civil Engineering Study to Calibrate New Design Method for Pavements in New York

The Kansas and New York State Department of Transportation have awarded a grant to researchers in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Arlington and Kansas State University. The study aims to calibrate the new design method for the materials, traffic and climate conditions in the two states, to optimize the use of funds for the construction and maintenance of highway pavements.more
Dale Fisseler, CE Advisory Member, Named Fort Worth's 22nd City Manager

Dale Fisseler was named the City Manager for Fort Worth in December 2007. He joined the City of Fort Worth in 1990 as a water production superintendent after eight years of service with Dallas Water Utilities. He was named director of the City of Fort Worth's Water Department in 1999. The department provides water and wastewater service to approximately 850,000 Fort Worth water customers in Tarrant County. more

Dr. Anand Puppala has recently received total funding of $178,000 from the US Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, to research on new surficial treatment methods to mitigate desiccation cracking on slopes and embankments. more

New Civil Engineering Laboratory Building Under Design

A new CEE laboratory building has been approved and being designed. The 25,000 gross sq. ft. facility will be located in the west campus just south of the Maverick Stadium. The $9.8 million building will house new research labs in asphalt/pavement, construction engineering and geomechanics/ geoenvironmental areas. more
