Dr. Sahadat Hossain has received a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The project, valued at $671,395, will be starting from September 2009 and will continue until August 2011. Dr. Hossain is joined by Professors Laureano Hoyos and Anand Puppala on the project “Slope Stability Analysis for the Dallas and Fort Worth Districts”. There are six major tasks for the project. Some of the tasks for the project are:

• Site investigation and evaluation of Dallas levee slope stability. The site investigations will be conducted using Resistivity Imaging (RI) and levee slope stability analyses will be conducted using Finite Element Programs.
• Investigation of MSE wall failure and recommendation of remedial measures of failed wall.
• Site investigation and evaluation of geo-hazard potential of existing slopes in areas where frequent slope failures have been observed in the past.
• Investigation of different excavation support systems and recommendation of most suitable and cost effective support system.
