Dr. Romanoschi Interviewed by KDAF TV in Dallas-Ft. Worth

Posted: Wed Feb 29 13:13:43 2012

Dr. Stefan Romanoschi, associate professor of civil engineering, told KDAF/CW 33 that a proposed weight increase change for commercial trucks would affect the life of a highway. "It means that the road that is designed to last 20 years, it will last probably 18 years. So you are looking at an increase in maintenance and rehabilitation costs probably around 10 to 25 percent at least," he said. A bill in Congress called the Safe and Efficient Transportation Act would allow the maximum weight on trucks to increase from 80,000 pounds to 97,000 pounds on federal highways. The interview video is located here.
