Dr. Anand Puppala has received a total of $465k funding for the current fiscal year with $212k of this funding came from US Army Corps of Engineers, $158k from Tarrant Regional Water District and $95k funding from Fugro Inc. The tasks for Corps project include monitoring of the surficial slope stability issues of two local dams, Grapevine and Joe Pool Lake dams; perform additional testing that address shear strengths of treated soil mixtures; and address clay mineralogy issues of different soils from Corps project sites. The second research project aims at studying the CLSM mix design using native clayey soils and assessing durability of the CLSM mixes. The third project was funded by Fugro Inc. and deals with sulfate measurements of various soils along the TRWD Integrated Pipeline alignment. This information will be valuable in screening various chemical treatment methods to stabilize sulfate soils along the pipeline alignment. Dr. Puppala's research group comprises of two post doctoral fellows, six doctoral students, and six full time masters students. Dr. Bhaskar Chittoori, Faculty Associate, is involved in all three research projects. Doctoral Students Minh Le and Naga Talluri as well as Masters Students, Rajanikant, Priya Lad, Justin, Ranjan and Pinit are working on the research tasks. Mr. Ken McCleskey and Ms. Sarwenaj Ashraf are project directors for Corps projects, Mr. Matt Gaughan of IPL and Ms. Shelly Hattan of TRWD are the project directors of TRWD/IPL project and Mr. David Lutz and Mark Wilkerson are project directors for the Fugro project. |
