Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Demonstration & Seminar Held at CELB

Posted: Tue Oct 2 16:03:17 2012

A hands-on demonstration and seminar on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology was held on September 27, 2012, at the Civil Engineering Laboratory Building. GPR has become a valuable technology for structural and geotechnical condition assessment in recent years. The potential for GPR application in today's deteriorating civil infrastructure is immense. It can play a key role in bridging the ever widening budget shortfall in infrastructure. The event was hosted and organized at the NDE Laboratory by Dr. Nur Yazdani, Professor of Civil Engineering, in cooperation with Michael Baker, Inc. It was attended by about 30 professionals from DART, NTTA, TxDOT, DFW Airport and the City of Arlington. Each agency that was represented at the seminar expressed keen interest in utilizing the GPR technology for a variety of issues and problems.
