The Dallas Section of ASCE has named Alumnus Faisal Syed, PE, PTOE as its Engineer of the Year, to be so recognized at the 2013 TSPE Engineers Week Award Luncheon on February 21. Mr. Syed received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of Texas at Austin and a Master's degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation) at UTA in 1995. A member of Tau-Beta Pi, Chi Epsilon and other honor societies, he also actively participated in extra-curricular activities at school including serving as the President of Institute of Traffic Engineers (ITE) student chapter at UTA and is the current student chapter liaison for the Dallas Branch of ASCE. Syed was also recognized as the ASCE and TSPE Young Engineer of the Year in 2002 and 2003 respectively.

Syed is the Principal of Urban Engineers Group in Dallas; a minority owned business specializing in providing municipal infrastructure engineering services. A licensed professional engineer, he also received Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification from ITE and is also LEED certified by USGBC.
