Drs. Sahadat Hossain (PI) and Melanie Sattler (Co-PI), received a new 3 year project from City of Corpus Christi. The project title is "Instrumentation and Performance Monitoring of Leachate Recirculation Systems in ELR Landfill." The award amount for the project is $311,000. This is the second project for PI from City of Corpus Christi. The research team will work with CP &Y, a leading landfill engineering consulting firm based in Dallas, Texas. This is the first time the City of Corpus Christi is going to operate their landfill as an Enhanced Leachate Recirculation (ELR) landfill and the research team will help city with the implementation of ELR landfill operation. The research team will be involved in design, implementation and performance monitoring of horizontal and vertical leachate recirculation systems.

Both professors have been working with City of Denton in implementing the first ELR landfill operation in Texas. Following their successful implementation and operation of ELR landfill in Denton, the City of Corpus Christi is also going to operate their landfill as an ELR landfill.
